My Philosophy of Education
I view
education as a key which will unlock many glorious treasures! When I teach I want my students to
demonstrate an innate inquisitiveness.
My goal is to send my students into the “real” world as problem solvers,
thinkers, creators, and achievers. As a
teacher I will encourage this and EXPECT this of my students. I will strive to know my students personally
and academically. I will provide
authentic experiences and teach to multiple intelligences. It is important for me to integrate subjects
in order to provide the most comprehensive curriculum for my students. I will be determined to stay abreast current
instruction and training techniques. I
will provide differentiated instruction so all of my students will find
success. It is important for me to model
my expectations and to remember “teaching is not a spectator sport”.
My
curriculum will focus on progress. This
includes improving oneself and society.
The learning process will be emphasized.
This involves developing thinking skills, interpersonal relationships,
and taking student interests into account.
Technology will be an important tool in the curriculum especially with
subject integration. Collaboration with
my peers is essential for the success of my students and the growth of me as a
teacher. Many types of assessment will
take place in order to address the many kinds of learners in this world.
My intent
is to mold life-long learners. My
students must view learning as valuable.
I will empower my students by giving them choices in order to keep them
motivated. I understand all children are
unique and learn in different ways. I
aspire to appeal to both intrinsic and extrinsic motivations. Children learn best by doing and I hope to
facilitate active learners who create, question and explore. Ultimately, I
would like to send forth responsible, positive contributors to society.
My
classroom will be full of opportunity!
The atmosphere will be that of a community of thinkers and learners with
individual thoughts and feelings.
Respect for one another and myself will be highly emphasized. I will encourage appreciation of differences
between oneself and others and equal opportunity. My students will develop pride for and take
responsibility for their work. The
classroom will foster a passion for learning, stimulate the senses, exude high
energy, and generate feelings of confidence, camaraderie and success! I will strive to manage my classroom in a way
which will feel safe and be conducive to learning.
I hope to
be a compass to guide my students in their pursuit of answers.
